"The way the pots transform in light is something special to me because this reflects what we are as human beings, ordinary but with the possibility of joy."

Gwyn Hanssen Pigott, potter, born 1 January 1935; died 5 July 2013

...Gwyn Hanssen Pigott, who has died aged 78, was Australia's most distinguished potter. Because she had learned much of her craft in England, training with some of its best-known figures, and had set up her first studio in London, she achieved honorary status as an important British artist as well. The association with Britain has been rekindled in a memorable series of exhibitions in the UK over the past 20 years, and it was while visiting London for the latest of these that she suffered a stroke..

Bonjour Armelle,
Yes we have the sun shining here and the sky is a beautiful blue chun glaze. I think that the heavenly potters have had success with their glazing today!
I really enjoyed following the link to the Parade by Gwyn Hanssen Pigott. The Song dynasty pots are ones that I always return to in my heart. I noticed how important the simple form of the pots that she selected was, and how many of them were white or pale cream. The simplicity of glazing complimented the quiet beauty of the pots.
It was refreshing to see these lovely things.

Must go now, but thank you so much for writing this post, I have enjoyed looking at the pots so much.

Best Wishes, P, L, & NS

Hello Peter,

Yes her Parade is very nice, I think so, and we can enlarge each picture to see the pots, very old pots and the quiet beauty is very true.
I like very much the alcaline blue glaze of the persian pots too, they all are beautiful.
